I first met Ken Morrow during the 1985-86 season in one of my earliest forays into the New York Islanders locker room as an intern for SportsChannel.

I was on the quiet side and Ken was a man of few words. Our first interaction was certainly not dramatic. It probably consisted of me listening closely and scribbling down several post-game comments from the players available to the media. 

Few words may have been exchanged but my enduring memory is the respect I felt encountering a player of Ken’s stature.
